Enameling Materials
Step 1
Enamelling process

Powdered opaque or transparent glass is sifted onto copper form before kiln firing. Opaque glass provides a paint-like surface that covers the metal underneath. Transparent glass reveals the metal underneath, and provides a three dimensional brilliance and greater depth of color.

Step 2
Enamelling process

The piece is then kiln fired for 2 to 4 minutes at temperatures ranging from 1450 - 1550 degrees, so that the glass will adhere to the metal.
